Brunch Richmond

Patch Café, Richmond: Review

December 12, 2016

With the temporary shutdown of our go-to Richmond café and having relocated further away from our previous go-to brunch spot, we found ourselves in need of our next favourite eatery.

It was one of the nicest Sundays we’ve had in Melbourne for a while and I wanted to make the most of it. After searching and frowning over all the options and mixed reviews on Zomato of every restaurant and café within a 15km radius, the boo signalled to stop my search. He proceeded to drive and took us to a street with a big red brick building.

The weather was lovely so we sat outside. I’m usually not a big fan of eating al fresco because the wind blowing my hair all over the place kind of bothers me. However, I really enjoyed the outdoor seating at Patch Café and I noticed that the tables and seats were kept nice and clean.

Service was friendly and we were served promptly. We ordered two iced coffees with almond milk and were pleased to discover that they use real coffee and not syrup for their iced coffee. There are a fair few good options on the menu and everything is relatively healthy. Vegan and vegetarian options are available too and they seemed rather flexible with their menu.

I ordered a beetroot and pumpkin fritter dish with a poached egg, avo-hollandaise, and cashew feta, topped off with some pomegranate. I fell in love with the presentation as soon as my meal came out. The colours were vibrant and I thought it was put together in a unique way. I’ve ordered many brunch fritters before but this one has to be my favourite so far. Everything about it made me feel super healthy!

I am definitely planning on making another visit. Next struggle: order this again or try something new?

After brunch we had a bit of a walk around the area and went to the new Hoyts in chaddy to see Fantastic Beasts. I’ve actually never read any of the Harry Potter books and have probably only seen a couple of the movies..but I actually did enjoy this movie. Since the sun’s been setting later each day we decided to take advantage of it and catch the sunset at the beach! Check out my vlog for more:
